When the Obama Administration took the decisive step to send aid in the form of weapons and other financial aid toward the Syrian rebels, what were your thoughts about that? Did that strike you as a wise decision on behalf of the President?
No, it doesn’t, because the reality is that these rebel groups, the group that the US wants to support, the Syrian Military Council and the Syrian National Coalition and then by extension the Free Syrian Army, they fight with and alongside Al-Nusra front against Assad’s regime and have you guarantees that weapons aren’t going to get into the hands of other Al-Qaeda groups; and the answer is that the Islamic State of Iraq already claimed that it buys weapons from the Free Syrian Army so, you know, what worst way to arm your enemy. The Free Syrian Army’s held- up has been secular and when you watch what’s happening in Syria, you could argue that large segments of it just aren’t, they claim that they dislike Al-Qaeda affiliates and yet they fight alongside them and they say very complimentary words about them.
