Mass Black Incarceration Ending? Don't Hold Your Breath

It’s been two generations since the beginning of modern mass Black incarceration. Prison populations, which only doubled from 1925 to 1972, increased more than seven-fold over the next 38 years, with Blacks accounting for ever higher proportions of inmates. The latest statistics do not indicate that white people “have reconsidered – or even acknowledged – their extraordinarily broad support for placing more Black people in captivity over the past 40 years than at any time since slavery.”

Islamophobia in United States still rising

Hate in America continued in 2011 to be aimed at Islam and Muslims. From congressional hearings on the “radicalization” of Islam by Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) to a report that revealed an anti-Islam network impacting views on Muslims to the release of 2010 FBI Hate Crime Statistics, which found an increase in anti-Muslim hate crimes, to Lowes home improvement stores yanking ads from TLC’s “All American Muslim Reality Show,” Muslims felt the sting of Islamophobia.

No end in sight for housing crisis

While the housing crisis has no end in sight, Countrywide borrowers got some satisfaction as the year ended with the largest residential fair lending suit in history as Bank of America agreeing to pay $355 million to settle allegations that Countrywide Financial used racist tactics against Black and Latino borrowers.

Zionists thirsty for war with Iran

Antagonism against Iran has escalated in the midst of a Western campaign of aggression and destabilization of sovereign nations that choose self determination over foreign domination. The world of geopolitics witnessed the destruction of Libya, guns aiming at Syria and now Iran—centered on whether the Islamic republic is developing nuclear technology for militaristic or peaceful objectives.

“The Obama administration, picking up on the policy of the (George W.) Bush administration, has decided to use Iran’s purported nuclear program as a pretext or as an excuse to escalate pressure on the government in Iran, and replace it with a proxy or client regime,” anti-war advocate Brian Becker of the  A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition told The Final Call.  Read more....

2011: More Trying times for Black America

For Black people 2011 reinforced the glaring reality that no matter who occupies the White House, overall conditions of the masses in the Black community do not change and in many cases, it worsens. Even for the Black family living in the White House, 2011 further revealed even they were not immune to being disrespected, stereotyped and attacked.

For events and news stories affecting Black men, women and children, this year bears witness to the insight given by the Honorable Elijah Muhammad that no man or woman can rise above the condition of his or her people.

What lessons did Black America learn this past year and what did 2011 say about the state of Black America? The economy, health, crime, international events and politics took center stage this year yielding mixed results according to a cross section of Black activists, analysts, leaders and commentators. » FULL STORY

'Synthetic' marijuana is problem for US military

US troops are increasingly using an easy-to-get herbal mix called "Spice," which mimics a marijuana high and can bring on hallucinations that last for days.

The abuse of the drug has so alarmed military officials that they've launched an aggressive testing program that this year has led to the investigation of more than 1100 suspected users, according to military figures.

Twelve biggest US lies of 2011

“I live in Washington where lying is an art form,” David J. Rothkopf wrote on the Foreign Policy website.

Before enumerating the most egregious US lies of 2011, Rothkopf divides the fallacious statements uttered by Washington into three categories.

Some, he says, are known for their “subtlety”, like President Barack Obama wanting to get special interests out of American politics. They “almost” feel true, Rothkopf says.

Others stand out for their “audacity”, like Newt Gingrich bringing down communism.

And last but not least are those which capture our attention for being offered with a “straight face,” like Mitt Romney saying he has deeply held political convictions.

Rothkopf, however, says among the plethora of US mendacious claims there are some which are most outstanding.

“They are the big lies that have defined our times,” he says, proceeding to catalogue those fibs.

1. “The war in Iraq is finally over after nine years.”

2. “America's mission in Iraq was a success.”

3. “We are winning in Afghanistan.”

4. Tie: “Pakistan is America's ally” and “Afghanistan is America's partner.”

5. “America is unthreatened by China's growth.”

6. Tie: “Republicans are the problem” and “Democrats are the problem.”

7. “Cutting the taxes of millionaires helps create US jobs.”

8. “This next summit of European leaders will be decisive …”

9. “The Obama administration is committed to serious financial services reform.”

10. “Only nine percent of Americans approve of Congress.”

11. “The operation in Libya will be over in a matter of days or weeks.”

12. “I love Israel.”

Top 100 Corporate Crime Stories of 2011

Here’s the other difference between the one percent and the rest of us –
The crimes of the one percent inflict far more damage on society than those of the 99 percent.
And they tend to get away with their crimes.
While we tend to get nailed.
The big multinational corporations, which are the primary delivery systems of wealth to the 99 percent, have rigged the justice system so that when they get in trouble with the law, they either aren’t prosecuted for their crimes, of if they are, they get special treatment – non prosecution or deferred prosecution agreements.
If they end up in the civil courts, they also get special deals – like neither admit nor deny consent decrees.
True, they pay fines, often in the tens or hundreds of millions of dollars, but this is pocket change to them – the equivalent of a parking ticket for serious wrongdoing.
They marinate the halls of power with campaign cash, flood them with lobbyists, and lubricate the revolving door – all to undermine our system of justice.
Out of the more than 500 stories we’ve written for Corporate Crime Reporter this year, here are the Top 100 – selected by our crack editorial team.
Just scan the the headlines, and you’ll get a sense of the enormity of the corporate crime wave.  | Common Dreams

Gay Rights and American Foreign Policy

The announcement that the US government will henceforth push the achievement of “gay rights” internationally, as a key element of its foreign policy, gives new meaning to the phrase “blowback” – and cut out the snickering! Because the self-righteousness and narcissism of American policymakers, in this instance, will have very real consequences for gay people throughout the world, and it isn’t going to be pretty.  » Read full article on[Antiwar.com Original]

Study: 60 Percent of Black Females Are Sexually Abused Before They Turn 18

Sixty percent of Black women in an ongoing study reported they had been sexually assaulted by a Black man before they turned 18, according researchers at Black Women’s Blueprint.

Nationally, more than 300 women were surveyed in the study, and the organization hopes to survey a total of 700 women by March 2012. The group will announce its full findings at that time.

According to Farah Tanis, co-Founder of the New York-based organization and co-author of the study, domestic and sexual abuse in the Black community often goes ignored, and the problem is only getting worse.  | BET

With Indefinite Detention Measure, Has Congress Also Expanded Rendition of U.S. Citizens Abroad?

The Obama administration is continuing to come under intense criticism from civil liberties groups for saying it will sign a controversial defense spending bill that some legal experts say would authorize the military to jail anyone it considers a terrorism suspect anywhere in the world without charge or trial. While much of the media focus has been on the bill’s provisions regarding indefinite detention, Mother Jones magazine has revealed the bill also contains text that could make it easier for the U.S. government to transfer American citizens to foreign regimes and security forces–a process known as rendition. We speak with Mother Jones’ national security reporter, Nick Baumann, who also details the cases of several U.S. citizens who have already been detained abroad by foreign security forces, interrogated, sometimes abused, and asked questions they believe could only have come from U.S. law enforcement. Opposition to privatised US immigrant prison

A plan to build one of North America's largest immigrant detention centres is being met with strong opposition by residents of Southwest Ranches in Florida.

The say they were not consulted about the construction and that the prison will ruin their neighbourhood.

But, many are also concerned about the high number - an estimated three million over the last ten years - of immigrants being incarcerated by the largely profit-making, privatised US facilities.

Andy Gallacher reports.

Indefinite detention Act voids US Constitution

Yesterday the US Congress voted to pass the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012. The 86 to 13 vote will allow the indefinite detention and torture of American citizens at home and abroad without a trial. The NDAA gives more power to the military and government and President Obama at one point said would veto the bill but he has changed his mind. Jason Leopold, deputy managing editor for TruthOut.Org, joins us to discuss this Act.

Nearly 1 in 3 will be arrested by age 23

Nearly one in three people will be arrested by the time they are 23, a study to be published today in Pediatrics found.

"Arrest is a pretty common experience," says Robert Brame, a criminologist at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte and principal author of the study.

The new data show a sharp increase from a previous study that stunned the American public when it was published 44 years ago by criminologist Ron Christensen. That study found 22% of youth would be arrested by age 23. The latest study finds 30.2% of young people will be arrested by age 23.  USATODAY.com

Presidential Frontrunner Warns Martial Law Being Established in America

Leading GOP candidate Ron Paul has warned in recent interviews that the amendments passed in the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) are not only dangerous, but authorize the establishment of total martial law inside the United States. Not only does the bill, in sections 1031 and 1032, declare the unconstitutional right to detain Americans indefinitely without trial, but it authorizes an Internet offensive and online Pentagon takeover under the pretext of cybersecurity and stopping online piracy.

America on the Brink of Anarchy

If we don't make earnest moves toward real solutions, then each day we move one day closer to revolution and anarchy in this country. This is the sad, and yet potentially joyous, state of America. America Hijacked! Billions go to Israel and other nations abroad while we suffer at home

In 2007, Professors Stephen Walt and John Mearsheimer's groundbreaking work titled, "The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy" opened many eyes to the powerful influence of the Israel lobby in America.

Since then, more have come to the realization that like-minded groups of wealthy donors pour money into the political system with the goal of electing officials that will govern in the best interests of the moneyed few.

Recent polling data from Real Clear Politics shows that nearly 82 percent disapprove of the job being done by the U.S. Congress and over 73 percent believe the country is on the wrong track. » FULL STORY

America Culture: Anti-'Traditional' Family. Many Say 'I Don't'

The share of all U.S. adults who are married has dropped to a record low 51 percent, according to a new report. If the trend continues, the institution will soon lose its majority status in American life.

The report being released Wednesday by the Pew Research Center finds new marriages dropped a sharp 5 percent last year, which is very likely related to the bad economy. Pew senior writer D'Vera Cohn says it fits with a larger trend.  : NPR

Messages in Water
The Spirit of Ma'at interviews Dr. Masaru Emoto

by Reiko Myamoto Dewey

REIKO: We have read your book The Message from Water, and we introduced it on our website in our August issue (see "Conscious Water Crystals: The Power of Prayer Made Visible"). It has been our most popular article, with its readership increasing every week, and has raised many questions.

You mentioned in your book how you would type out words on a piece of paper and paste these written words onto a bottle, and see how the water reacted to the words -- what kind of crystals were formed from the words. From your research, are you able to discern whether the reaction of the water came from the vibration of the actual words that were pasted onto the bottles, or whether the intention of the person who was pasting the words onto the bottle influenced the experiment in any way?

DR. EMOTO: This is one of the more difficult areas to clarify. However, from continuing these experiments we have come to the conclusion that the water is reacting to the actual words. For example, for our trip to Europe we tried using the words "thank you" and "you fool" in German. The people on our team who took the actual photographs of the water crystals did not understand the German for "you fool", and yet we were able to obtain exactly the same kind of results in the different crystal formations based on the words used.  Read more...

Black America at the Bottom

New U.S. Census data show “black Americans are at the absolute bottom of the economic heap in a county still teetering from the effects of a seemingly endless recession.” With the median household income at $50,000, African American households earn only $32,000 – $5,000 per year less than Latinos. Insanely, however, Black Americans are more optimistic about the economy than all other groups. Obama twists Black minds. “Most black people still love the president who looks like them but who goes out of his way to ignore them and their needs.”  | Black Agenda Report

Officials Detail Plans To Fight Homegrown Terrorism. Are those Plans a War against Terrorist or Dissatisfied Americans?

FEMA Concentration Camps: Locations and Executive Orders

The White House will unveil a broad, new strategy Thursday aimed at battling homegrown terrorism in the U.S. The program aims to empower communities by teaching local officials to recognize violent extremism and see the threat as a public safety issue, like the battle against gangs and drugs.
The plan comes as the terrorism threat against the U.S. continues to evolve. All eyes used to be trained on al-Qaida in Pakistan. But more recently the attacks have come from violent extremists here in the U.S. who picked up radical ideas from the Internet. Those plots, though less spectacular, are the ones the Obama administration is trying to fend off.  : NPR

U.S. Makes First-Ever Push For Gay Rights Abroad

http://www.stephenblack.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/gay_flag_w_symbols.jpgPresident Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced Monday that the United States will now use foreign aid as a tool to improve Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender rights abroad.

"I am deeply concerned by the violence and discrimination targeting LGBT persons around the world whether it is passing laws that criminalize LGBT status, beating citizens simply for joining peaceful LGBT pride celebrations, or killing men, women, and children for their perceived sexual orientation," Mr. Obama said in a presidential memorandum.

The memorandum includes a number of instructions for federal agencies doing work overseas, among them to improve protections for LGBT asylum seekers and to strengthen opposition to criminalization of LGBT status or conduct. It instructs the State Department, the U.S. Agency for International Development and other agencies to use foreign aid as a mechanism to "build respect for the human rights of LGBT persons."  Read more...

Missionaries of Hate or Lovers of Gods Way. Uganda's Gay Dilemma

Vanguard documentary "Missionaries of Hate" is another propaganda piece where the morally corrupt White Christian West is pushing their deviant culture on African and Muslim nations.

The title of the documentary is a perversion of the truth.  The real 'hate' is pushing a 'lifestyle' on Africans that conflicts with their religious and moral beliefs.  The punishment of the crime of homosexuality seems harsh, however, what was God's punishment on the people of Sodom & Gomorrah?  It was death and destruction for immorality.

African and Muslim nations apposed the charter to pass the Gay Agenda but Western nations, that have always struggled with homosexuality, passed it through the UN.  Now the West will move to impose sanctions and possible military action on nations that don't allow what is seen by Africans and Muslims as a deviant lifestyle.

The family structure in Western countries is appalling; RAPE, INCEST, SEXUAL ASSAULT, MOLESTATION, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, CHILD PROSTITUTION, CHILD ABUSE, DRUG & ALCOHOL ADDICTION, and MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES all plague western societies and are now starting to do the same to African peoples because of Soft War (Cultural Imperialism) where the West imposes it's cultural aberrations on African peoples, they have no justification to tell Africa or Muslim nations how to conduct their families.
