Corporate inequality fuels Occupy movement

Why did the West glorify Gaddafi's death?
However it seems to accept without question the targeted assassinations and indiscriminate drone attacks carried out by the USA against its perceived enemies, even as in the case of Imam Anwar Awlaki, when it's against their own citizens.

U.S. Policy, Gadhafi and Libya
Obama. It grieves me to see my brother president set a policy that would remove this man not only from power, but from the Earth. That bothered me.What is going on? Why, all of a sudden, is this rush to destroy Gadhafi? I have to ask this question of our government.
Now, I know why you are angry with him: Because he never agreed with your policies when it came to sucking the resources of Third World peoples, and putting in place dictators that would be amenable to America's policies. And whenever a government or leader arose, that wanted to use the resources of that nation for that nation's people, America, through the CIA, would plan insurrection, coups, terrorist activities and even assassination of good leaders to put in their place America's dictators! US Sends Troops to Uganda - Is it About the Oil?
Oil explorer Heritage Oil and Gas says it has struck one of the largest oilfields in northern Ugandan district of Amuru, far surpassing any of the previous discoveries by any of the exploring companies in the country. The company called the discovery, at Giraffee-1 exploration well in Block 1, "world-class." News of the discovery saw the company's share price on the London Stock Exchange go up by 1.1 per cent.According to the company, the Giraffe-1 well has approximately 38 meters of net oil pay and, combined with Buffalo well which was discovered in December last year, covers an estimated 48 square kilometres. The entire stretch, Heritage estimates, contains upwards of 400 million barrels of crude oil. "The large Buffalo-Giraffe structure is a world-class discovery which could prove to be substantially more extensive than currently outlined, unlocking the multi-billion barrel potential of Block 1," said Tony Buckingham, Heritage's chief executive officer. The poor oil companies continue to see big profits while Americans get robbed at the pump and troops die
Exxon/Mobil profits increased over 40 percent last year. Chevron/Texaco and Conoco/Phillips increased a modest 33 percent. Mercy. Texas oil refineries had to upgrade or purchase new equipment to comply with EPA requirements to remove sulfur dioxide from diesel and gasoline to reduce vehicle pollution; customers paid for it at the pump. The Gadhafi I Know - A Commentary on the Libyan Leader
Listening and looking at the news reports on Libya since the turmoil began earlier this year, the corporate media portrayal of the North African country and its unjustly deposed leader is a depiction that's nowhere near the Muammar Gadhafi I know. I traveled to Libya for the first time in February, 1977 with Minister Louis Farrakhan, the leader of the Nation of Islam and reflecting on our relationship with Muammar Gadhafi and the Libyan people that spans decades, it is disheartening to hear these reports which imply that in 42 years, Muammar Gadhafi has done nothing for Libya and his people. I thought long and hard about how the Western press shaped how Muammar Gadhafi is seen by the world since the uprisings against the Libyan government started in March. Read more...
Assassination of Libya's revolutionary leader condemned
Muammar Gadhafi, the "Lion of Africa" is gone and as with great African luminaries before him like Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first president of independent Ghana; Gamal Abdel-Nasser, Egypt's visionary advocate of Pan Arab unity and others; the Libyan revolutionary's life, work and struggles can begin to be studied and assessed.
When Col. Gadhafi led the Al-Fateh revolution on Sept 1, 1969, Libya was one of the poorest nations in the world. Through the revolution he championed, the power equation changed.
He evicted Americans and the British, and then shut down their military bases. He nationalized the oil industry and used the revenue to build schools, universities, hospitals and infrastructure. » FULL STORY

Is the US Declaration of Independence illegal?
The Declaration is unquestionably "legal". Under basic principles of "Natural Law", government can only be by the consent of the people and there comes a point when allegiance is no longer required in face of tyranny.
The legality of the Declaration and its validity is proven by subsequent independence movements which have been enforced by world opinion as right and just, based on the fundamental principles of equality and self-determination now reflected in the UN Charter. BBC News

Has the African Union got Libya wrong?
Many individuals African rulers benefited from Gaddafi’s largesse – particularly when they were in trouble – allowing them to get over any queasiness at his comic theatre at African summits and his coronation as Africa’s “King of Kings” as well as to humour his quest for a “United States of Africa”.
For South Africa’s ruling ANC, Gaddafi was a friend during the struggle against apartheid. For Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe, who expelled the Libyan ambassador after he switched sides this week, help has been much more recent. Some autocrats may also fear that the example set by the overthrow of Gaddafi could inspire opponents in their own countries. | Africa News blog

Africa Open for Western Plunder and the Growing Friction with China (BRIC Nations)
Africa Open for Plunder Now that Libya Has Fallen
Obama’s decision is described in the press as “highly unusual” and “surprising”, even “weird”. It is none of these things. It is the logic of American foreign policy since 1945. Take Vietnam. The priority was to halt the influence of China, an imperial rival, and “protect” Indonesia, which President Nixon called “the region’s richest hoard of natural resources… the greatest prize”. Vietnam merely got in the way; and the slaughter of more than three million Vietnamese and the devastation and poisoning of their land was the price of America achieving its goal. Like all America’s subsequent invasions, a trail of blood from Latin America to Afghanistan and Iraq, the rationale was usually “self defence” or “humanitarian”, words long emptied of their dictionary meaning.
In Africa, says Obama, the “humanitarian mission” is to assist the government of Uganda defeat the Lord’s resistance Army (LRA), which “has murdered, raped and kidnapped tens of thousands of men, women and children in central Africa”. This is an accurate description of the LRA, evoking multiple atrocities administered by the United States, such as the bloodbath in the 1960s following the CIA-arranged murder of Patrice Lumumba, the Congolese independence leader and first legally elected prime minister, and the CIA coup that installed Mobutu Sese Seko, regarded as Africa’s most venal tyrant. » Infowars

Modern slavery still thriving internationally
Estimates by the US State Department suggest up to 17,500 slaves are brought into the US every year, with 50,000 of those working as prostitutes, farm workers or domestic servants.
Modern slavery is a global phenomenon with an estimated 12.3 million people -- the majority women and girls -- being victims of forced labor, bonded labor and sex slavery, according to the U.S. State Department. It is a lucrative business as well, with trade putting approximately $32 billion into the pockets of traffickers each year.

The critical hour demands building a future for ourselves and our people
Now what does that say? If we could rise above our differences to produce what never was seen before, and hasn't been duplicated since, then what is our call today?
The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan |
Now think about this: You need a “mayor,” so that means you need politicians. You have a “great pastor,” so we need our preachers and our spiritual leaders. We have Bev Smith, who represents “media”—we need our own media to back what we're about to do!
We need courageous men, like the Reverend Dr. Ben Chavis! And we need support like we had from Fredericka Bey, and the women of New Jersey who had been organizing since the Million Man March. And where would we be in Philly without our dear brother Kenny Gamble, known to us as Brother Luqman, and his dear wife. Malik Zulu Shabazz and the New Black Panther Movement; Dr. Leonard Jeffries; Brother Abdul Malik; all of the ministers of the Nation of Islam; all of the wonderful sisters who supported us: Thank you all! Farrakhan: We are at war! Future of our people is at stake

At the 16th anniversary and commemoration of the historic Million Man
March, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan served notice to leaders
still selling the failed promise of America and warned Black people to
accept responsibility for their own destiny or face chastisement from
God—and ultimately complete elimination.
"Whether you know it or not, we are at war! Our survival as a
people is at stake and no weak kneed cowardly leaders need to stand in
front of Black people today! This is a time for real men! Men that
understand that in order for people to be free, sacrifice has to be
made, the loss of life has to take place, blood must flow in order for
people who are enslaved to be free!" declared Min. Farrakhan almost at
the start of the passionate address. » FULL STORY
Efforts to Combat High Infant Mortality Rate Among Blacks

The private nature of infant mortality has made it a quiet crisis, lacking the public discussion or high-profile campaigns that accompany cancer, autism or postpartum depression.
The infant mortality rate in the United States has long been near the bottom of the world’s industrialized countries. The nation’s current mark — 6.7 deaths per 1,000 live births — places it 46th in the world, according to a ranking by the Central Intelligence Agency. - NYTimes.com
