Instigated Terrorism: The Function of an FBI Informant

Here is an important question: What single organization is responsible for more terror plots in the USA than any other? Possible answers: Al Qaida. That would no doubt be the popular answer but it would be wrong. The KKK. Way past their prime, so that is not it. The Jewish Defense League. Good guess, but still not it. So what is the correct answer? It is the Federal Bureau of Investigation, AKA the FBI. Don’t believe me? Well, just read Trevor Aaronson’s expose entitled “The Informants” published in the September/October 2011 issue of Mother Jones.

Aaronson looked at over 500 terrorism related cases taken up by the FBI and found that over half of them involved the Bureau’s stable of 15,000 informants. Many of these are ex-felons and con men who are often paid well if their efforts result in an arrest and conviction. So what, you might say. Using informants to obtain information about criminal activity is an old and legitimate tactic. Yes, however, that approach to information gathering is not exactly how the FBI uses all of its informants. Indeed, the Bureau has a program, misnamed “prevention” which encourages its agents to get creative in the use of informants. How creative? Well, if they can’t find any terrorist activity going on, they have their informants instigate some. Where are they doing this? Mainly in our country’s Muslim communities.  : Information Clearing House News

Water, water everywhere but not a drop to drink, not according to study: Enough water to double world food production

There is enough fresh water in the world to double food production in the next decades -- the problem is its inefficient use, according to a study released Monday at the World Water Congress meeting in Brazil.

"There is clearly sufficient water to sustain food, energy, industrial and environmental needs during the 21st century," read the report, published in a special edition of the journal Water International.  | The Raw Story

How to Eat to LIVE: Another Study Bearingwitness to Elijah Muhammad. There Is No Biological Reason to Eat Three Meals a Day

People around the world, even in the West, have not always eaten three squares. The three-meals model is a fairly recent convention, which is now being eclipsed as, like everything else, eating becomes a highly personalized matter of choice. What and when and how frequently we eat is driven less and less by the choices of our families, coworkers and others, and more and more by impulse, personal taste and favorite nutrition memes, and marketing schemes such as Taco Bell's promotion of late-night eating known as "Fourthmeal: the Meal Between Dinner & Breakfast." Selecting how and when we eat is like loading our iPods.

A torrent of new studies explores the health effects of eating three squares. Their findings are far from conclusive. A US Department of Agriculture study found that eating just one large meal a day versus three normal-sized meals lowers weight and body fat but raises blood pressure; three meals per day lowers blood pressure. A National Institute on Aging study found that eating one large meal a day rather than three raises insulin resistance and glucose intolerance: two key features of type-2 diabetes.   | AlterNet

6 Ways the Rich Are Waging a Class War Against the American People

I recently offered a less Orwellian definition, arguing that real class warfare is when those who have already achieved a good deal of prosperity pull the ladder up behind them by attacking the very things that once allowed working people to move up and join the ranks of the middle class.

But there's another way of looking at “class war”: habitually vilifying the unfortunate; claiming that their plight is a manifestation of some personal flaw or cultural deficiency. Conservatives wage this form of class warfare virtually every day, consigning millions of people who are down on their luck to some subhuman underclass.

Agriculture holds Ghana’s future, not gold, not oil – Veep

Vice President John Dramani Mahama, highly impressed with the exploits of the Ghana National Service Scheme’s Agric Projects after a visit to the scheme’s Komenda Farms in the Central Region Friday, says the future of the nation lies in agriculture, not gold or oil.

“The future of this country is not in gold, it’s not in oil; the future of this country is in agriculture,” he pointed out, explaining that “It is agriculture that will truly transform this country and take it to the next level that we want it to go to and it is easy for us as a people to feed ourselves once the right policies are in place and we have the will to.”

The Vice President, accompanied by Agric Minister Mr. Kwesi Ahwoi and some directors of the ministry, and the Central Regional Minister, Madam Ama Benyiwa-Doe, visited the farm to acquaint himself with progress of the initiative started last year in collaboration with the Agric Ministry.

UN asks for tolerance and then sides with racists

The 2001 UN World Conference Against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance took place in Durban, South Africa, in 2001. Ten years later, the UN supports what is clearly a racist and intolerant force - the NTC in Libya; the African Union recognises this scourge which fights against the man championing this Organization.

After this, the words of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon fall on deaf ears. Telling the General Assembly on the tenth anniversary of the Durban Declaration "The resurgence and persistence of such inhumane attitudes and detrimental practices indicate that we have not done enough to stem the tide," it seems he is forgetting something.

People's Protest in Africa Against NATO Aggression in Libya

Shortly before the arrest, leader of the demonstrators, Sekou Mwanza Nkrumah, who was also nabbed, told GNA that the action of the police showed how much influence the United States of America had over the Government in Ghana.

He asked whether the individual Ghanaian did not have rights and liberties to express their views anymore.

According to a statement from the Police Public Affairs Directorate, the group clearly defied the Public Order Act, 1994 (Act 491).

A GNA report on the development indicated that the protest march commenced at about 10.50am from the Obra Spot and the demonstrators headed for the US embassy to protest the operations of NATO in the North African country.

Upon reaching the GBC junction close to Kanda Estates, a platoon of policemen dangled a prohibition order outlawing the march- an act which appeared to have infuriated the protestors. They heckled the cops and ignored the order, whereupon reinforcement was ordered.

We Ignore Poverty, But It Is On the Rise

The debate is too limited. The pain is intensifying. We need a White House Commission on poverty, malnutrition and human need. Only the president has the platform to ignite this debate and Congress has the moral burden to close ranks behind his leadership and lift millions out of the sinking sand of poverty. We profess to be a moral nation, moreover a Christian nation, our character measured by how we treat the lost, least and left behind. We need to stop fighting unnecessary wars and start feeding children in our cities. We need to go back to Appalachia where Lyndon Baines Johnson launched the war on poverty and from that place go to the zones of human need across the country. Let’s honor the American promise to provide for the huddled masses that are tired, poor and yearn to breathe free.  | Common Dreams

US extreme capitalism a problem for the world - Ahmadinejad

RT: It’s interesting when you say “complete state”, “in its entirety” actually, because US President Barack Obama addressed the General Assembly saying that Palestinian UN membership and statehood can’t come from statements or UN resolutions. The only way there could be a peaceful plan in a two-state solution in the Middle East is through negotiations. Just last year, the US president said he hoped when he returned to the UN, there would be a Palestinian UN membership. So he clearly is backpedaling on his position. At the same time he has supported the Tunisians, the Egyptians, the Libyans, saying that it’s the will of the people to determine their future. Do you feel that the Palestinians have a reason to feel betrayed by the US president?

MA: I say that perhaps if we don’t use the word betray it is better. I think what has taken place is on a higher plateau than betrayal. This is the continuation of the suppression of the rights of the Palestinian people and the Palestinian nation. You see if they don't realize their dream of self-determination and legitimacy this year, this will occur next year. If not the next year, then the following year. This will happen and no-one can prevent that. Now can we logically and fairly ask of anyone to establish a dialogue and negotiate with occupiers in order to get the right of self-determination? Imagine a gang of thieves come and take over your home. Once they are asked to return the property to its rightful owner or owners they give predetermined sets of rules and conditions in order to leave what they took through theft. So this is the policy that has failed. It has been proven and it will be wiped away very soon, this principal of doing things. And the same goes for the Arab nations. Who did they rise up against? Against the United States’ influence in the region. It is clear the world over, dictators have been and are protected and supported by the United States. People rose up against the dictatorship, against Western influence, against US influence. Now how can the United States see itself as the rightful owner of such a popular movement? I think this is a trick. The fundamental point behind the popular uprising – not in the Arab world, but across the world – is against the influence of the extreme capitalist system which is inhuman at its core. And it is not just pertaining to the Arab World; it is the world over – in Europe, in Great Britain, in France, in Spain, in Greece – the world over – wherever we look today. If people are given permission and a chance to express themselves and express their opinions they will certainly rise up against the influence of the United States.  — RT

The 6 Most Horrifying Lies the Food Industry Is Feeding You

If there’s one thing in the world the food industry is dead set against, it’s allowing you to actually maintain some level of control over what you eat. Did Walmart buy urban agriculture group’s silence?

Will Allen nets a Tilapia at the urban farm Gr...Image via WikipediaLast week, retail behemoth Walmart announced a $1.01 million donation to Milwaukee-based Growing Power, a well-known urban farming nonprofit, whose founder Will Allen has gained many accolades for his hard work to bring local, healthy food to low-income areas.

So far the online debate over Growing Power taking this funding is predictable: Some defend it for pragmatic reasons, while others deplore the move, either because they don't like this particular company or they think all corporate money is evil. However, this donation cannot be viewed in such a narrow context. There is a pattern here that spans decades. By partnering with a group that could otherwise be one of its staunchest critics, Walmart is taking a page right out of the Big Tobacco playbook: buying silence.  Read more...

Interracial Marriages Slowly On The Rise in America.

Approval of black-white marriages at record high, but marriages between black & white lower than those between white & other racial groups

Approval of black-white marriages is at a record high among blacks and whites. Blacks have always been more approving than whites of interracial marriage, going back to 1968 when Gallup first was able to report reliable estimates on each group's opinions. However, the gap in approval ratings has narrowed considerably, averaging 13 percentage points since 1997 but 32 points from 1968-1994.  Record-high 86% approve of black-white marriages – Global Public Square - CNN.com Blogs

Almost 34% of Asians who were recently wed in 2008 married whites, and 28% of Hispanics married whites who are not Hispanic.
"Blacks are still the least assimilated," says Roderick Harrison, a demographer at Howard University and the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies in Washington.  Black-white marriages on the rise – USATODAY.com

A study shows that marriages between African Americans and white people rose steadily between 1980 and 2008, far exceeding the rate of unions between white people and other ethnic and racial groups.
But the total number of marriages between black people and white people is much smaller than those between white people and groups such as Hispanics, Latin Americans or Asian Americans.
Rapid increase of black-white marriages over last three decades | Mail Online

In 1980, only 5% of black men married white women; in 2008, 14% did. Still, the total number of marriages between blacks and whites remains smaller than those between whites and other racial and ethnic groups. Compared with blacks, proportionally more men in other groups marry outside their race: for example, 38% of Asian American men and Hispanic men married white women in 2008.  Study: Blacks and Whites Intermarrying More in the U.S. – TIME Healthland

NASA's Space Junk to Hit Earth When and Where Will the UARS Satellite Land is Questionable

A defunct 7-ton research satellite is falling to Earth, due to re-enter the atmosphere soon, with the potential to rain debris onto the earth's surface.

According to NASA, the Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite is expected to come down to earth by late September, early October.

NASA says safety is their first priority, and the risk to public safety is very small.

So small in fact, you have a better chance of winning the lottery, than you do of getting hit by orbital debris.

The satellite is expected to make a crash landing on Earth, filling a 500 mile wide range of land across Britain, Europe, northern Canada, southern South America, and three oceans.
Once the twenty year old satellite re-enters Earth's atmosphere, NASA will be able to project with more accuracy the general area within which it will land.

One of the problems when predicting the landing spot is the fact that the satellite will break up once it enters our atmosphere. Pieces of various sizes, the largest probably 300 pounds, or the size of a refrigerator, will fall on land or in the ocean.

This satellite is 35 feet long and 15 feet in diameter. This bus-sized satellite, weighing nearly 12,500 pounds, was deployed in 1991 from the shuttle Discovery.
The $750 million UARS satellite has been dead in orbit since 2005, when it was decommissioned after a 14 year earth observation mission.

NASA says there is a 1 in 3,200 chance a person will get hit with debris, and they encourage anyone who might find a piece of the satellite to leave it alone and call their local law enforcement authorities. - YouTube

    MISSION

Toward this end, we must gather the best, brightest and most willing minds to mobilize and organize our people, and to develop short and long range plans and programs for:
  •     spiritual and moral development
  •     educational development
  •     economic development
  •     political development
  •     social development
  •     cultural development
  •     health development
To develop the systems necessary to bring these plans and program initiatives to fruition.

We must develop strategic alliances to further our aims. We must never form an alliance from a position of weakness, but, rather from a position of strength.

We must forge unity with the struggle of the African Union to develop Africa, with the Caribbean, Central and South America, with the Isles of the Pacific, and with our Native American Brothers and Sisters. We must develop through the registration process for the mobilization of the commemoration of the Million Man March, a skills bank, the talent of which should be used in the development of our people in the United States and World Wide.

    DEMANDS
  •         We must demand an end to police brutality and mob attacks.
  •         We must demand an end to the lack of adequate health care and substandard education.
  •         We must demand an end to racial profiling, the herding of our young men and women into prisons and the biological and chemical warfare being perpetrated against our people.
  •         We must demand reparations.
  •         We must demand that America take the appropriate steps to help in the repair of the damage done to the descendants of slaves for 300 years of slavery, 100 years of segregation, and 50 years of the misuse and abuse of governmental power to destroy Black organizations and leaders that have over the years been working to heal the condition of nearly 40 million of our people in America.
  •         To this end, Christians, Muslims, Hebrews, Jews, agnostics, nationalists, socialists, men, women and youth are coming together in agreement that the time is now for us to articulate our demands, and to accept our responsibility to change the condition and reality of our lives. Even though we petition the government, our covenant must first be with our Creator and with each other.

British politician wants Blackberry Messenger shut off during riots
BlackBerry manufacturer Research in Motion has offered to assist British authorities in tracking down those participating in the riots across the UK, it said Monday. The move irked supporters of the rioters, and RIM's blog was subsequently hacked in retaliation.

It has also gotten the attention of British politicians. David Lammy, a member of parliament from the riot-stricken north London suburb of Tottenham, has called for the BlackBerry Messenger service to be shut down in the country.

Facebook, Twitter and BlackBerrys were not used to organise violence during August's riots, executives representing the companies have told MPs.

Speaking to the Home Affairs Select Committee yesterday, the representatives said there was 'no evidence' the services had been used to co-ordinate the unrest across the country.

They added that government plans to turn off the social networking sites at times of unrest would be 'absolutely horrible.'

Can you guess which five states had the most executions over the past four years?

It's not often that the US Supreme Court stays an execution, as it did late Thursday in the case of convicted murderer Duane Buck. But the justices routinely consider such requests, given that 34 states permit capital punishment. Since 1999, when a record 99 inmates were put to death, the number of executions has dropped slightly, according to the Death Penalty Information Center, which opposes capital punishment.

America's future in Debt! College Student are filing applications for Bankruptcy not Jobs

Study: College graduates driving increase in bankruptcy filings - The Washington Post

College graduates are the fastest-growing group of consumers who have filed for bankruptcy protection in the past five years, according to a new study by a financial nonprofit, which underscores the broad reach of the Great Recession.

The survey by the Institute for Financial Literacy, slated for release Tuesday, found that the percentage of debtors with a bachelor’s degree rose from 11.2 percent in 2006 to 13.6 percent in 2010. The group tracked similar but smaller increases in consumers with two-year associate and graduate degrees. Meanwhile, the percentage of debtors with a high school diploma or who did not finish college declined.

FBI Teaches Agents: ‘Mainstream’ Muslims Are ‘Violent, Radical’

Leaked material: The graph included in the training manual shows that the more devout a Muslim, the more likely they are to be violent

The FBI is teaching its counterterrorism agents that “main stream” [sic] American Muslims are likely to be terrorist sympathizers; that the Prophet Mohammed was a “cult leader”; and that the Islamic practice of giving charity is no more than a “funding mechanism for combat.”

At the Bureau’s training ground in Quantico, Virginia, agents are shown a chart contending that the more “devout” a Muslim, the more likely he is to be “violent.” Those destructive tendencies cannot be reversed, an FBI instructional presentation adds: “Any war against non-believers is justified” under Muslim law; a “moderating process cannot happen if the Koran continues to be regarded as the unalterable word of Allah.”  | Wired.com
