US prisoners sentenced under strict crack cocaine laws get relief

A pile of crack cocaine ‘rocks’.Image via Wikipedia
Thousands of federal inmates imprisoned under a 1984 law mandating harsh sentences for crack cocaine violations are eligible for shorter sentences, the US Sentencing Commission ruled Thursday.

The ruling affects at least 12,000 federal prisoners – primarily nonviolent drug offenders and most of them African-American – though they still have to go before judicial panels to argue their cases for getting out of prison early. The average sentence is expected to be reduced by 37 months.  - CSMonitor.com

Nigerian Pfizer victims' compensation fears (unbelievable)

Trovan, a Pfizer drug tested on 200 children and intended to treat a deadly regional outbreak of meningitis, killed 11 children and left several more permanently injured in 1996.

In 2009, the US pharmaceutical company agreed to pay $75m to the claimants in compensation.

However, Pfizer introduced DNA testing as part of the process to qualify for the payment.

Many of the victims do not understand what DNA testing is and, fearing it is an attempt by the company to use them in another drug trial, have abandoned their compensation claims.

How chemicals are affecting us sexually: turning men gay, children gender confused and humanity sterile

Has The "Gay Gene" Been Found in Female Mice?

The sex habits of mice have long been an intriguing subject for scientists. Now, mouse sex just got a lot more interesting for the rest of us.
A group of Korean geneticists has altered the sexual preferences of female mice by removing a single gene linked to reproductive behavior. Without the gene, the mice gravitated toward mice of the same sex. Those mice who retained the gene, called FucM, were attracted to male mice. (FucM is short for fucose mutarotase.)
The geneticists' study, published last week in the journal BMC Genetics explains that female mice without FucM avoided male mice, declined to sniff male urine, and made passes at other females.  | Popular Science

What if it could release a chemical that would make an opposing army's soldiers think more about the physical attributes of their comrades in arms than the threat posed by the enemy? And thus the "gay bomb" was born. Far from being the product of conspiracy theorists, documents released to a biological weapons watchdog in Austin, Texas confirm that the US military did investigate the idea. It was included in a CD-Rom produced by the US military in 2000 and submitted to the National Academy of Sciences in 2002. The documents show that $7.5m was requested to develop the weapon.

Genetic Modification Gone Wild: 10 Signs That Our World May Be Destined To Resemble A Really Bad Science Fiction Movie

Did you know that today scientists are actually producing mice that tweet like birds, cats that glow in the dark, "monster salmon", "spider goats", cow/human hybrids, pig/human hybrids and even mouse/human hybrids?  The very definition of life on earth is changing right before our eyes.  Many scientists believe that genetic modification holds the key to feeding the entire planet and healing all of our diseases, but others are warning that genetic modification could literally transform our environment into a desolate wasteland and cause our world to resemble a really bad science fiction movie.  For decades, scientists around the globe have been fooling around with DNA and have been transplanting genes from one species to another.  But now technology has advanced so dramatically that just about the only thing limiting scientists are their imaginations.  Read more...

Few have ever heard of it, but the American Legislative Exchange Council, or ALEC, is the ultimate smoke filled back room.
On the surface, ALEC’s membership is mostly comprised of thousands of state legislators. Each pays a nominal membership fee in order to attend ALEC retreats and receive model legislation. ALEC’s corporate contributors, on the other hand, pay a king’s ransom to gain access to legislators and distribute their corporate-crafted legislation.
So, while the membership appears to be public sector, the bankroll is almost entirely private sector. In fact, public sector membership dues account for only around one percent of ALEC’s annual revenues. ALEC claims to be nonpartisan, but in fact its free-market, pro-business mission is clear.

Greece Is the Way We Are Feeling

The European Union proudly claims to be more than the sum of its 27 parts, with a collective wealth and influence that gives it elephant status in the global zoo. Its common currency, the euro, used by 17 of its governments (but not, importantly, Britain), ranks second only to the dollar as a reserve currency. But it only took a hungry Greek mouse running up the elephant’s trunk to send the beast into an intensifying panic.
The ghastly mess generated by the follies of Greece, a marginal, profligate and congenitally ill-governed Tammany Hall of a Mediterranean nation, is greater by far than Ireland’s banking difficulties or even Portugal’s debts. It has spooked markets worldwide. If it continues to be mishandled, it could derail Western growth.  - Newsweek

A Memo For Zionists

First, for the record, no American president has done for Israel what President Obama has done. U.S. military aid to Israel will reach $30 billion between fiscal year 2009 and 2018, an annual average increase of 25 percent over previous levels. America, under the leadership of President Obama, has given Israel the most modern and up-to-date weapons, billions more in loans that are turned into grants, and over $3.09 billion a year in military expenditures a year. That does not include the cost of the transfer of technical knowledge to the Zionist state. It is estimated that the American taxpayer gives Israel an average of $7 million a day. That's a first. The ICC is after Muammar Gaddafi – a man who isn't black

Today’s announcement by the International Criminal Court that it will investigate Colonel Gaddafi’s crimes against humanity is kind of historic. Because Gaddafi is easily the least black person the court has ever shown an interest in. Up until now it poked its legalistic snout exclusively into what used to be known as the “Heart of Darkness”, but which these days, due to the demands of PC, is referred to as “Africa’s trouble spots”. It has investigated five countries: Sudan, Uganda, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Kenya (NB: the Serbs faced the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia). By turning its Dark Continent-obsessed gaze to Libya, and visiting its moral disapproval on a North African leader, the ICC has dragged itself, if not into the twenty-first century, then at least from the nineteenth into the twentieth.  Telegraph Blogs

Racist History of the ICC - Columbia Encyclopedia
The ICC inaugurated its first investigation in 2004 when it began looking into crimes in Congo (Kinshasa) and Uganda. Its first arrest warrants were issued (2005) for five leaders of the Ugandan rebel Lord's Resistance Army, which was accused of causing nearly 20 years of conflict. In 2005 the United Nations voted to refer war crimes cases in Sudan's Darfur region to the ICC, and the subsequent issuing (2009) of a warrant for the arrest of Sudan's President Omar Ahmed al-Bashir in connection with war crimes and other offenses in Darfur has been the ICC's most notable action. Among its other significant cases is that of former Congolese rebel leader and interim vice president Jean-Pierre Bemba, who was arrested (2008) in Belgium and is facing trial for war crimes and crimes against humanity, accused of leading rebels in a campaign of torture, rape, and murder in the Central African Republic. ICC judges also have authorized (2010) the investigation of those responsible for murder, rape, and forced displacement in the ethnic violence that followed the 2007 elections in Kenya.

Additional information about the International Criminal Court
By 2002 China, Russia, and the U.S. had declined to participate in the ICC, and the U.S. had campaigned actively to have its citizens exempted from the court's jurisdiction.

Hard work or Hardly Working? How White People Got So Rich Part 3

There is nothing mystical or mysterious about how White people established their superior position in America and the world—and it had absolutely nothing to do with either merit or “hard work.” The list of benefits that Whites granted to themselves—mostly by gangster force and wily deception—is the untold reality behind the building of their vast portfolios of plunder. Within this four-part Final Call series, we see every sector of American society implementing profoundly racist policies and programs that are respected and enforced by every other sector. The executive, judicial, and legislative branches of government, private industry, the media, the labor movement, religious institutions, and the corporate world—ALL have agreed on one thing: White supremacy must prevail.

Nameless – African Origins: Identifying the victims of the Transatlantic Slave Trade

The transatlantic slave trade has long been a chapter in world history that has not been revisited thoroughly enough. Its chapters have often been skipped in the long history of World Civilizations and its victims have equally been voiceless, faceless and above all nameless. Writes our own team member, Katchênin Koné.

But a name is an integral part of a person’s identity. A name identifies ones origins, it signifies a lineage, given from one generation to another and thereby by itself caring history. ‘What is your name’ and ‘Where are you from’ are one the first and most frequent questions anybody gets asked, especially when stepping on new terrain.

There Is Much More to Say (about the Killing of Osama bin Laden)

On May 1, 2011, Osama bin Laden was killed in his virtually unprotected compound by a raiding mission of 79 Navy Seals, who entered Pakistan by helicopter. After many lurid stories were provided by the government and withdrawn, official reports made it increasingly clear that the operation was a planned assassination, multiply violating elementary norms of international law, beginning with the invasion itself.

There appears to have been no attempt to apprehend the unarmed victim, as presumably could have been done by 79 commandos facing no opposition - except, they report, from his wife, also unarmed, who they shot in self-defense when she “lunged” at them (according to the White House).  | Scoop News

What does Pres. Obama, The Increase in Arms Sales, Military Allies, & The New Pentagon/CIA appointments mean for the rest of the World?

Frome the article: werewolf » Fighting For Obama

Such issues only serve to obscure a third and less publicized aspect of his presidency. Under Obama, the US has spectacularly ramped up its foreign sales of military hardware, surpassing even the heady levels achieved by the Clinton and George W. Bush presidencies. We can’t say we weren’t warned. While Candidate Obama would occasionally chide the Bush administration for treating international problems as being ‘amenable to military solutions’ it is now evident that Obama’s disagreement was not with the goals but with the self defeating ‘go it alone’ means that Bush had used to try and achieve them. Could Obama do it better ? Yes, he could.
