A family of African American converts on Wednesday accused immigration inspectors of assaulting them in their house in Ashkelon, during an arrest that took place Tuesday evening.

Sean Garret, who arrived with his wife’s family in Israel from Kansas City in July, said they came to Israel in order to live a full Jewish life after completing their Conservative conversion.

Charging that one officer kicked his pregnant wife in the stomach, and that others beat him, he expressed amazement and dismay that state officials had treated them so badly.  Read more...

The Tulsa Massacre 1921: Mass Murder of a Black Community

On May 30, 1921, a rumor swept through the booming western oil town of Tulsa, Oklahoma that a young Black man had insulted a white woman in a downtown elevator.

According to the rules of American society, the accused man faced an immediate death sentence. Since the turn of the century, many hundreds of Black men in the U.S. had been brutally lynched and mutilated by vigilante gangs–without trial or investigation–often for accusations of “affronting white womanhood.”

But this time, in Tulsa, it was different. This time there was resistance. Organized militant forces in the Black community stepped forward to defend Dick Rowland.

All the hateful racist forces in the area responded to that resistance with two feverish days of murder and fire. The dead of Tulsa’s Black community lay stacked in piles. And the central Black business district of North Tulsa was totally burned out. « Kasama

Malcolm Shabazz on the three chapters missing from ‘The Autobiography of Malcolm X’

He is trying to portray as if it was Alex Haley or the publishers that withheld these three chapters, which is not the case. My grandfather himself was actually the one who didn’t want these three chapters to be published. Reason being is because they were more reflective of him being the spokesperson for the Nation of Islam at that time. They were more reflective of a time when everything he said, he attributed to Elijah Muhammad. He would say, Elijah Muhammad teaches us thus and so – even when it wasn’t Elijah Muhammad. He was just doing this to show respect and so forth.

Washington, DC, September 16, 2010 – Annual data released today by the U.S Census Bureau indicates that 43.6 million Americans—one in seven people— now live in poverty. This is the largest number of people in poverty in the 51 years for which the estimates are available. The figures also show that African Americans experience poverty at a much higher rate than whites.

“It’s troubling that, in one of the world’s wealthiest nations, one in four African-American households struggle to provide for their families,” said Bishop Don DiXon Williams of Bread for the World’s Church Relations department. “The vast disproportion in poverty rates between African Americans and whites suggests that we must urge our nation’s leaders to do more to end poverty and hunger.” - Article

Myth or high science? Is there evidence of Mr. Yakub?

The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad teaches that the White man first appeared 6,000 years ago on the Island of Patmos (or Pelan), in the Aegean Sea, where they had been “made” by a 600-year process of selective breeding called “grafting.” Under the auspices of a brilliant Black scientist named Yakub, and by divine authority of Allah Himself, the Blacks who came with Yakub to the island were placed under a system of laws by which mating was based on skin color and in which only lighter-complexioned babies were allowed to survive. Over the course of many generations, the population of Patmos began to grow lighter and lighter until, after 600 years of this dedicated grafting process, the people became very pale with blue eyes and blonde hair. From this island-based tribe of white-skinned albinos came an aggressive race of rulers who then spread into every corner of the world—namely, the Caucasians, who now represent 9 percent of the world population (that's 1 in every 11 human beings).

But The Messenger is not the only source to address the origin of the White race. There are many echoes of this account chronicled by other histories, religions, and folklores, including Judaism. The ancient rabbis use the biblical account of Jacob's grafted flocks of sheep and goat to bear witness to the teachings of Mr. Muhammad. Genesis 30:35 says that Jacob (English translation of the name Yakub) was able to produce unusually colored livestock through the use of a skillful breeding technique. Significantly, it took Jacob six years to successfully change the color of the flock (Genesis 31:41). The book of Jewish traditions called the Midrash Rabbah actually uses this Bible story to explain the birth of White children to Black parents.  Read more...

Saddam Hussein aide Tariq Aziz sentenced to hang

The international face of Saddam Hussein's regime, Tariq Aziz, was sentenced to death by hanging Tuesday for persecuting Shiites just over three months after the Americans transferred him to Iraqi government custody.

Iraqi High Tribunal spokesman Mohammed Abdul-Sahib did not say when the 74-year-old former foreign minister would go to the gallows. Aziz has 30 days to launch an appeal.

Aziz, the only Christian in Saddam's mainly Sunni inner circle, was wearing a blue suit and sat alone in the court. He bowed his head and frequently grasped the handrail in front of him, as the judge read out the verdict. - Houston Chronicle

Cholera In Haiti Here To Stay, Experts Say

The last major outbreak of cholera in the hemisphere started in Peru in 1991 and sickened nearly half-a-million people. It made it as far as the United States, but somehow missed Haiti altogether.

But now that cholera has returned to Haiti after a 50-year hiatus (with 3,015 cases and 253 dead), it'll be almost impossible to get rid of, says Dr. Jon Andrus, deputy director of the Pan-American Health Organization.

"It's clear this will not go away for several years," Dr. Andrus says. "This surge of cases will come down. But there probably will be cases in the future. And so we need to plan that way." NPR

Based on dozens of interviews and focus group sessions in seven provinces in western, eastern, and southern Afghanistan over the past year, the report by the Open Society Foundations found that Afghans tend to blame U.S.-led forces as much or more than the Taliban for the country's continuing violence and instability.  Read more...

U.S. Jews, who, next to Black Americans, have constituted the minority most supportive of Barack Obama, are growing more skeptical of his performance and increasingly hawkish on Iran, according to a new poll released by the American Jewish Committee.

The survey of 800 self-identified Jewish Americans, the latest in an annual series that stretches back more than a decade, also found a marked decline in confidence over Mr. Obama's handling of U.S.-Israel relations compared to eight months ago when the AJC published its last poll. Anwar Al-Awlaki may be the first American on the CIA's kill or capture list, but he was also a lunch guest of military brass at the Pentagon within months of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks, Fox News has learned.

Documents exclusively obtained by Fox News, including an FBI interview conducted after the Fort Hood shooting in November 2009, state that Awlaki was taken to the Pentagon as part of the military’s outreach to the Muslim community in the immediate aftermath of the attacks.

Israeli Bulldozer driver who crushed US peace activist Rachel Corrie case brought to trial

The bulldozer driver who crushed US peace activist Rachel Corrie in March 2003 was brought to trial on Thursday in Haifa, Al Jazeera reported Thursday.
The former solider was seated behind a wood-and-plastic partition and his testimony was relayed to the courtroom via microphone. Rachel Corrie's parents were not given the opportunity to confront him face-to-face. "I wish I could see the whole human being," Cindy Corrie said.
Three witnesses were scheduled to testify on Thursday, however the judge reduced the number to just one.
Corrie's parents filed the lawsuit against Israel five years ago after the Israeli investigation closed the case on the grounds that the bulldozer driver could not see Rachel. 
The report noted that the bulldozer driver kept emphasizing the same two points: "Firstly, that he was working within a command structure, that he had his orders from above, and secondly, that he really couldn't remember even the most basic of details to do with that incident."
The driver's somewhat apathetic or hazy demeanor upset Corrie's mother. "I haven't heard one moment of remorse, and to me, that's one of the saddest things...If you've killed someone, you'd think you might remember if it was in the early afternoon or late in the day," said Cindy Corrie.
The Corries are seeking a symbolic $1 in damages from the Israeli government and have accused the government of "gross negligence."

Did the Exodus Ever Happen?

Why have the Jewish leaders refused to challenge the Minister or their own Jewish scholars on this issue? Could it be because there are serious discussions among Jewish and non-Jewish scholars as to whether the Exodus ever happened, at all? The tip of this scholarly iceberg broke in 1999 when Prof. Ze'ev Herzog of Tel Aviv University announced: “the Israelites were never in Egypt, did not wander the desert, did not conquer the land, and did not pass it on to the twelve tribes.” But the reader may argue that in the 1956 movie “The Ten Commandments” Charlton Heston, who portrayed Moses, used his rod to bring on the plagues against Egypt, and finally to part the Red Sea and drown Pharaoh and all of his army. But one of America's most prominent rabbis was bold enough to state that Heston may have been promoting a pure fiction. David J. Wolpe is the rabbi of Sinai Temple (Los Angeles, California) and was named the “#1 Pulpit Rabbi in America” by Newsweek (2008). He is considered a leader of the Conservative Jewish movement and he became assistant chancellor at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America in New York.

On Passover 2001, Wolpe told his congregation that “the way the Bible describes the Exodus is not the way it happened, if it happened at all.” Wolpe argued that no archeological digs have produced evidence of the Jews wandering the Sinai Desert for forty years, and that excavations in Israel consistently show settlement patterns at variance with the Biblical account.  Read more...

What is the most likely cause today of civil unrest? Immigration. Gay Marriage. Abortion. The Results of Election Day. The Mosque at Ground Zero. Nope.

Try the Federal Reserve. November 3rd is when the Federal Reserve's next policy committee meeting ends, and if you thought this was just another boring money meeting you would be wrong. It could be the most important meeting in Fed history, maybe. The US central bank is expected to announce its next move to boost the faltering economic recovery. To say there has been considerable debate and anxiety among Fed watchers about what the central bank should do would be an understatement. Chairman Ben Bernanke has indicated in recent speeches that the central bank plans to try to drive down already low-interest rates by buying up long-term bonds. A number of people both inside the Fed and out believe this is the wrong move. But one website seems to believe that Ben's plan might actually lead to armed conflict. Last week, the blog, Zerohedge wrote, paraphrasing a top economic forecaster David Rosenberg, that it believed the Fed's plan is not only moronic, but "positions US society one step closer to civil war if not worse." US-trained cartel terrorises Mexico

It was a brutal massacre even by the gruesome standards of Mexico’s drug war: 72 migrant workers gunned down by the "Zetas" - arguably the country’s most violent cartel - and left rotting in a pile outside a ranch in Tamaulipas state near the US border in late August.

The Zetas have a fearsome reputation, but the real surprise comes not in their ruthless use of violence, but in the origins of where they learned the tricks of their bloody trade. Some of the cartel's initial members were elite Mexican troops, trained in the early 1990s by America’s 7th Special Forces Group or "snake eaters" at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, a former US special operations commander has told Al Jazeera.

“They were given map reading courses, communications, standard special forces training, light to heavy weapons, machine guns and automatic weapons,” says Craig Deare, the former special forces commander who is now a professor at the US National Defence University. - Al Jazeera English

The difference between Black and Gay Suicides

Although the media is focusing on Gays suicides, fact is, its an epidemic across racial/ethnic groups. Blacks committing suicide was unheard of when I was growing up, is now increasing at an alarming rate. What has changed? The more we assimilate into white, western culture, morals & norms the more we loss our on souls.

The usual reasons are given as to why people commit suicide; depression, mental illness, bullying and so on. Ask yourself, what is more depressing than slavery, oppression and injustice? Blacks have always had these hurdles to overcome but instead of killing ourselves we would unify, with the spiritual community taking the lead and fight against oppression, fight against inequity and injustice.  Not give in and give up.  If that was our history as a people we would not be here today.

What happen, what's different today, why are Black youth losing hope and committing the ultimate act of self-hate: Suicide?

To understand why we have to understand the nature of the Black man and women.  We are a spiritual people.  In order for us to be a balanced people we must be connected with God.  One of the fatal side effects of integration was adopting the white mans value system, a system not based on spiritual and holistic values, but a system based on material and atomistic values and goals. 

When I was growing up the church had influence in the community, but that influence was waning fast.  Dr. Jawanza Kunjufu pointed out in his illuminating book, Countering the Conspiracy to Destroy Black Boys that in the 50's the influences on Black youth were: (1) home, (2) school, (3) church, (4) peers, (5) television.  The 80s' is was: (1) home, (2) peers, (3) television, (4) school, (5) Church and by the 90's the church was not even on the list, with the major influences being: (1) peers, (2) rap, (3) television, (4) home, (5)school.


What happen to the Church?  The Honorable Louis Farrakhan stated in a lecture called: The Convention of the Oppressed, that, "The preacher should be the freest, boldest, leader that we have because the people take care of the preacher.  Why them are many preachers weak in defending the truth and the rights of the people?"  Black preachers, with the exception of a few, have given up and give in, preferring to go along to get along, which is classified as a "Negative Peace".

The moral safeguards of our community have been torn down by outside forces in collaboration with internal forces, ie Black preachers, who have sold the Black community a bill of goods for a pat on the head and 30 pieces of silver form the white man.  Without those spiritual safeguards and moral values we had before integration, the Black community is like a freshwater fish swimming in salt water, desperately trying to breath in spiritually air but suffocating in a morally bankrupt society.  

Once again, we are a spiritual people by nature. Western, white society is material by nature. By assimilating and living a western way of 'life' we are in essence committing suicide.


The Center for Disease Control reports suicide is the third leading cause of death, behind accidents and homicide, of individuals ranging in age from 15 to 24. Suicide is the fourth leading cause of death for children between the ages of 10 and 14.

That is why the NAACP—an organization that has worked to expose and combat racism in all its forms for more than 100 years—is thankful Devin Burghart, Leonard Zeskind and the Institute for Research & Education on Human Rights prepared this report that exposes the links between certain Tea Party factions and acknowledged racist hate groups in the United States. These links should give all patriotic Americans pause.

I hope the leadership and members of the Tea Party movement will read this report and take additional steps to distance themselves from those Tea Party leaders who espouse racist ideas, advocate violence, or are formally affiliated with white supremacist organizations. The Farm to Consumer Legal Defense Fund filed a law suit against the FDA several months ago on behalf of raw milk consumers in an effort to overturn the interstate ban on raw milk movement under CFR 1240.61.
It is truly sad to read as an American that believes in freedom and justice, that FDA greed and corporate cronyism at the highest levels has replaced the respect for health and freedom of choice. The FDA has just defined themselves as an enemy of freedom, an enemy of health, an enemy of whole unprocessed food, an enemy of nutrition and an enemy of prevention.

Thanks to the recession, 2009 was one of the worst years for poverty in America in more than half a century. The total number of Americans living in poverty hit 43.6 million, the highest level in 51 years and the national poverty rate rose to 14.3 percent from 13.2 percent, according to data released last month by the Census Bureau.

War's Hidden Death Toll: After Service, Veteran Deaths & Suicides Surge

As of this month, over 5,700 American soldiers have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. That count does not include those veterans who commit suicide or die from war-related issues after returning home from military service. Well, a new investigation into California veterans and active service members reveals that three times as many veterans are dying soon after returning home than those being killed in Iraq and Afghanistan combined. According to the report published in the Bay Citizen and the New York Times, more than 1,000 California veterans under 35 died between 2005 and 2008.  [transcript]

The Sentencing Project Releases Disenfranchisement Report

The Sentencing Project released a new report

on felon disenfranchisement laws which found that 800,000 people have regained their right to vote since 1997 thanks to reforms in voting laws in 23 states. These include the repeal of lifetime bans in nine states; three states expanding the right to vote for those under community supervision (probation and parole); eight states easing the process to regain the right to vote after a completed sentence; and three states improving data and information sharing.

Fiery crosses aside, this is what the CIA literally is doing globally.

The CIA today is committing many of the same sort of gruesome crimes against foreigners that the KKK once inflicted on Americans of color. The principal difference is that the old KKK consisted of self-appointed vigilantes who regarded themselves as both outside and above the law when they perpetrated their crimes. By contrast, the CIA acts as the agent of the American government, often at the highest levels, and at times at the direction of the White House. Its crimes typically are committed in contravention of the highest established international law such as the Charter of the United Nations as well as the U.S. Constitution. What’s more, the “Agency,” as it is known, derives its funding largely from an imperialist-minded Congress; additionally, it has no qualms about fattening its budget from drug money and other illegal sources. It is a mirror-image of the lawless entity the U.S. has become since achieving superpower status. And it is incredible that the White House grants license to this violent Agency to commit its crimes with no accountability. The Ku Klux Klan was founded shortly after the end of the U.S. Civil War. Klansman concealed their identities behind flowing white robes and white hoods as they terrorized the newly emancipated blacks to keep them from voting or to drive them from their property.  Read more...

Germany's Angela Merkel: Multiculturalism has 'utterly failed'

German Chancellor Angela Merkel's comments come just days after a study by a German think tank found that more than 30 percent of people believed Germany was 'overrun by foreigners.'

German Chancellor Angela Merkel told a gathering of young members of her conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party this weekend that the "multikulti" concept – where people of different backgrounds would live together happily – does not work in Germany.

At "the beginning of the 1960s our country called the foreign workers to come to Germany and now they live in our country," said Ms. Merkel at the event in Potsdam, near Berlin. "We kidded ourselves a while. We said: 'They won't stay, [after some time] they will be gone,' but this isn't reality. And of course, the approach [to build] a multicultural [society] and to live side by side and to enjoy each other ... has failed, utterly failed."  Read more...

The study of remains and literature from ancient Egypt and Greece and earlier periods – carried out at Manchester’s KNH Centre for Biomedical Egyptology and published in Nature Reviews Cancer – includes the first histological diagnosis of cancer in an Egyptian mummy.

Finding only one case of the disease in the investigation of hundreds of Egyptian mummies, with few references to cancer in literary evidence, proves that cancer was extremely rare in antiquity. The disease rate has risen massively since the Industrial Revolution, in particular childhood cancer – proving that the rise is not simply due to people living longer.

Professor Rosalie David, at the Faculty of Life Sciences, said: “In industrialised societies, cancer is second only to cardiovascular disease as a cause of death. But in ancient times, it was extremely rare. There is nothing in the natural environment that can cause cancer. So it has to be a man-made disease, down to pollution and changes to our diet and lifestyle.”  Read more...

Russia agrees to help Venezuela build first nuclear power station

Russia has agreed to help Venezuela build its first nuclear power station, in a move that is likely to raise concerns in Washington about the increasingly close co-operation between Moscow and Caracas.

President Dmitry Medvedev announced the move at the end of a two-day visit to Moscow by Venezuela's president, Hugo Chávez. Venezuela's economy is overwhelmingly reliant on oil and Chávez has said he wants the nuclear power station to diversify energy supply.  Read more...

Top 400 Charities See Billions Less In Donations, Biggest Percentage Drop Ever Recorded

A new ranking of the nation's 400 biggest charities shows donations dropped by 11 percent overall last year as the Great Recession ended – the worst decline in 20 years since the Chronicle of Philanthropy began keeping a tally.

The Philanthropy 400 report to be released Monday shows such familiar names as the United Way and the Salvation Army, both based near Washington, continue to dominate the ranking, despite the 2009 declines. The survey accounts for $68.6 billion in charitable contributions.  Read more...

Many of the most popular applications, or "apps," on the social-networking site Facebook Inc. have been transmitting identifying information—in effect, providing access to people's names and, in some cases, their friends' names—to dozens of advertising and Internet tracking companies, a Wall Street Journal investigation has found.

Accepting ADL award, Murdoch decries 'ongoing war against Jews'

Media mogul K. Robert Murdoch on Thursday decried the "ongoing war against the Jews" and demanded an end to efforts to isolate Israel.

Accepting an award from the Anti-Defamation League for his support of Israel, Murdoch described the phenomenon of delegitimizing Israel as a "soft war" which he said has now entered a "new phase."

“This is the soft war that seeks to isolate Israel by delegitimizing it," Murdoch told attendees at the New York dinner where he was bestowed the ADL International Leadership Award. Malaysia to use lab mosquitoes to fight dengue

Malaysia could be the first country in Asia to use genetically modified mosquitoes to battle a rise in dengue fever, government authorities said Monday.

The program calls for genetically engineered male mosquitoes to be released into the wild that would mate with females and produce offspring that live shorter lives, thus curbing the population.

Malaysian scientists say laboratory test trials have made them optimistic.

"It is a pilot project, and hopefully it will work," Prime Minister Najib Razak told reporters on the sidelines of a World Health Organization conference in Malaysia.  - Yahoo! News
