Unfortunately, thousands of patients die from such mistakes too, but this study looked only at deaths where our present medical system wouldn’t fault anyone. 'Vast amount' of methane in Gulf spill

"John Kessler, a Texas A&M University oceanographer, says that while typical oil deposits include only 5 percent of natural gas or Methane, the crude oozing from the seabed in the Gulf of Mexico contains nearly 40 percent of the gas.

Kessler, who is closely looking at the effects of methane from the BP oil leak, told AP that, 'This is the most vigorous methane eruption in modern human history.'' Read more...

Internet 'kill switch' proposed for US

The legislation says that companies such as broadband providers, search engines or software firms that the US Government selects "shall immediately comply with any emergency measure or action developed" by the Department of Homeland Security. Anyone failing to comply would be fined.

Ottawa makes own gesture of healing at Truth and Reconciliation event

In a gesture of reconciliation, the federal government announced Wednesday it will strike out sections of the Indian Act that allowed the government to set up residential schools and forcibly remove native children from their homes.

Suicide Rivals The Battlefield In Toll On U.S. Military

Nearly as many American troops at home and abroad have committed suicide this year as have been killed in combat in Afghanistan. Alarmed at the growing rate of soldiers taking their own lives, the Army has begun investigating its mental health and suicide prevention programs.
