Christian militia accused of plotting to kill cops

Nine alleged members of a Christian militia group that was girding for battle with the Antichrist were charged Monday with plotting to kill a police officer and slaughter scores more by bombing the funeral — all in hopes of touching off an uprising against the U.S. government.

Seven men and one woman believed to be part of the Michigan-based Hutaree were arrested over the weekend in raids in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio, and another was still being sought.

Fatty foods may cause cocaine-like addiction

Scientists have finally confirmed what the rest of us have suspected for years: Bacon, cheesecake, and other delicious yet fattening foods may be addictive.

A new study in rats suggests that high-fat, high-calorie foods affect the brain in much the same way as cocaine and heroin. When rats consume these foods in great enough quantities, it leads to compulsive eating habits that resemble drug addiction, the study found. Read more...

Hate rhetoric is escalating into violence

Just this week a militia group and the tea party movement intersected.  Mike Vanderboegh, former leader of the Alabama Constitutional Militia, recently called for hundreds of thousands of gun owners to “point their muzzles at the hearts of tyrants” when discussing ways to oppose recent congressional legislation.  He also encouraged breaking of Democratic Party leaders windows to get their attention.  He said “To all modern Sons of Liberty: THIS is your time. Break their windows. Break them NOW.” After this, there was a rash of such incidents. 

And, today 7 militia members were arrested in FBI raids in the midwest for plotting violence against Muslim organizations.  This particular group calls themselves the Hutaree whose members describe themselves as Christian soldiers preparing for the arrival and battle with the anti-Christ.   Read more...

Accordng to a CBC document, other key provisions in the legislation that CBC members fought to have included are:

• Expanded support for community health centers, which play a vital role in expanding access to preventive and other care in our nation’s most vulnerable communities.
• Greater support for programs that will increase the racial and ethnic diversity in the nation’s health workforce, as well as improved data collection so that we can better measure health inequities and develop solutions to end all health disparities.
• Strengthening the existing Office of Minority Health at HHS, creating new Offices of Minority Health across HHS agencies, and establishes the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities at NIH an Institute.
• Inclusion of coverage for resident of the U.S. territories, including a significant infusion of new Medicaid dollars, as well as access to the Exchange so that Americans in the territories will have access to affordable, high-quality health insurance plans.
• Guarantees transparency on rates and enables state insurance commissioners to recommend to the National Insurance Commissioner whether a particular insurer should participate in the Health Insurance Exchange, taking into account excessive or unjustified premium increases in making that determination. This will hold private insurers accountable, ensure affordability and help provide quality coverage for American families.
In addition to significant health care provisions, the CBC also fought for the inclusion of many very important education provisions including:
• Invests $35 billion over 10 years to increase the maximum annual Pell Grant to $5,550 in 2010 and to $5,975 by 2017.
• Invests $2.55 billion in Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Minority-Serving Institution
• Invests $2 billion in a competitive grant program for community colleges to develop and improve educational or career training programs.
• Saves taxpayers $61 billion over by switching to the less expensive Direct Loan program.

From the death of Abraham Lincoln to the assassination of President Kennedy, it proves that on each one of these occasions where outlaws over ruled legal authority, it was in the case of Presidents who opened their mouths and said something favorable for the so - called Negro.

I am not saying that this was the reason President Kennedy was assassinated, but it seems very strange that every President who says something favorable for the so called Negro pays for it with his life. We also can substantiate this by the fact that any Negro who wants to lead the so called Negro to a better life and towards true peace, freedom, justice and equality, which he is entitled to enjoy, is also subjected to the same kind of assassinations or attempts at assassination. I know these to be facts. There are some who seem not to want a true freedom and who will also speak unfavorably and plan unfavorable actions against those who dare to lead a true struggle for justice and equality. The tragic death of President Kennedy should serve as a warning to all rulers and people of value that values cannot be trusted openly in the presence of thieves and robbers.

There has never been a president elected to such a high office who had the heart of everyone for him, and never was there a king who had the people wholeheartedly with him, regardless of how good the king, the president, prime minister or the spokesman for the king or president. There may be some people who do not like the high official holding the top office of the nation. I think that they should be well protected, and all precautionary steps should be taken to insure such persons safety. Riding in open cars or walking openly in the public is usually a needless risk taken by anyone holding such high office, especially when they are political officials.

'Dispute won’t harm $3b. aid to Israel'

The congresswoman who oversees US aid to Israel told The Jerusalem Post Thursday that the ongoing dispute between the countries would in no way harm assistance to the Jewish state.

“There is no question in my mind that the 10-year memorandum of understanding is solid,” Nita Lowey, chairwoman of the US House appropriations subcommittee on foreign operations, said of the decade-long US aid plan under which $3 billion will be going to Israel this year. “There is strong bipartisan support for Israel in the Congress that will not falter.”  Read more...

The IRS now after Prince

Prince's financial woes are of another kind-he's not so much losing money as he is failing to pay it. The Purple One owes more than $227,000 in taxes to his home state of Minnesota for his PRN Music Corporation, which is located in his famous Paisley Park complex near Minneapolis.

The majority of that amount was due back in 2009, with an extra $27,000 thrown on as a penalty for delinquency.  Read more…

Pig Virus DNA Found in Rotavirus Vaccine

GlaxoSmithKline's Rotarix rotavirus vaccine contains DNA from an apparently harmless pig virus, the company and the FDA today announced.

The FDA estimates that 1 million U.S. kids have received the Rotarix vaccine.
The contamination was discovered by researchers developing a new technique for detecting viral material. GlaxoSmithKline confirmed that the pig virus, porcine circovirus type 1 or PCV-1, has been in the vaccine since it was developed.  Read more…

Tea Party Movement, Health Care Bill and Race

I am not calling and would never call all or even most individual tea partiers racists. I'm sure most aren't on a personal level.

But the personal level has nothing to do with the psychology of a mass political movement. A mass political movement develops a personality of its own that consumes and transcends individuals.

And a mass political movement that's 98% (or probably more) white, and is created in opposition to the policies of a black president, is just bound to be on some level a racist movement. I don't even see what's controversial about that proposition. The people who screamed n----- at John Lewis: it's possible I'm being too generous here, but I would bet that most of them don't use that word in their normal daily lives. But put them in the context of this insane rage they feel about "their" country, and ugly stuff comes out.  Read more...

NPR's "All Things Considered" on Friday examined a recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention analysis showing that roughly 16% of U.S. residents ages 14 through 49 are infected with genital herpes, making it one of the nation's most common sexually transmitted infections. The analysis also showed that 48% of black women between 14 and 49 are infected with the virus, and that blacks have a 39% infection rate, compared with 12% among whites. Gender-Bender Chemicals are Turning Boys Into Girls

The government of Denmark has released a 326-page report affirming that endocrine disrupting chemicals are probably continuing to the birth of fewer males and the "feminization" of existing ones.

The report centers on chemicals like PVC, flame retardants, phthalates, dioxins, PCBs and bisphenol-A, all of which mimic the action of estrogen in the body. The researchers concluded that due to the prevalence of these chemicals, children could easily be exposed to high enough levels to place them at "critical risk" of harm.

The chemicals have been blamed for falling sperm counts among men worldwide, and their full effects remain unknown. A study by researchers at Erasmus University in Rotterdam, Netherlands, found that male children who had been exposed to PCBs and dioxins while in the womb were more likely to dress up in female clothes and play with dolls than boys who had not been. Other research has documented a connection between prenatal phthalate exposure and "feminization" of male genitals, including smaller penises.

Evidence is increasingly emerging that estrogen mimics might also be responsible for a puzzling phenomenon: fewer boys are being born than ever before. Typically, 106 male children are born for every 100 females in most populations. In recent years, however, this distribution has been shifting in favor of females, with endocrine disruptors a likely culprit.  Read more...

The bill is only 12 pages long, but that is plenty of room to grant the president the power to order the arrest, interrogation, and imprisonment of anyone -- including a U.S. citizen -- indefinitely, on the sole suspicion that he or she is affiliated with terrorism, and on the president's sole authority as commander in chief.

The Act begins with the following (convoluted) requirement: Whenever within the United States, its territories, and possessions, or outside the territorial limits of the United States, an individual is captured or otherwise comes into the custody or under the effective control of the United States who is suspected of engaging in hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners through an act of terrorism, or by other means in violation of the laws of war, or of purposely and materially supporting such hostilities, and who may be an unprivileged enemy belligerent, the individual shall be placed in military custody for purposes of initial interrogation and determination of status in accordance with the provisions of this Act.  Read more...

Three European human rights organizations are warning that social networking sites are being used to spread racist and xenophobic views — especially among young people.

In a statement the groups express alarm over an "ever-increasing" use of the Internet by racist groups for recruitment, radicalization, command and control, intimidation and harassment.

The American people no longer want their education and they are destroying the very houses that house their text books of education.  They are rebelling against their teachers and then they set their houses on fire - schools, colleges and universities. Late on Wednesday evening, the U.S. Senate passed, by unanimous consent no less, a long-overdue bill that will help to reform one of the most egregious aspects of our nation's criminal justice system — the staggering 100 to 1 sentencing disparity between crack cocaine and powder cocaine offenses. Through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, the Electronic Frontier Foundation obtained a 33-page document indicating that FBI agents have been trained to use social networking sites to gather evidence—specifically sites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and MySpace. Drug Tests For Welfare Recipients Proposed

Lawmakers have proposed a bill that requires random drug tests for anyone getting unemployment benefits or welfare.

Rep. Michael Harden said the drug test would cost no more than $25 and the test would be paid for by the person taking it, not the taxpayers. Harden said the state would cut off anyone who refuses the test or fails the test.

"They want to know at without a doubt that their tax dollars are not going to support illegal drug activity," Harden said.  Read more…

Federal Panel Finds NY Dept. of Education Discriminated Against Arabic School Principal

The federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has ruled the New York City Department of Education discriminated against the founding principal of an Arabic-language school in Brooklyn by forcing her to resign in 2007.
